About the Department

Jananayak Chandrashekhar University has a Department of Political Science. The department was established in 2020, since then it is continuously moving ahead in achieving its vision and mission. The Department of Political Science has a team of experienced and dedicated faculty members who are specialized in various sub-fields of Political Science such as International Relations, Political Theory, Comparative Politics, Public Administration, and Indian Politics. The faculty members are actively involved in research and publication activities and are also engaged in organizing seminars, workshops, and conferences to promote research and scholarship in Political Science. The postgraduate program offered by the Department of Political Science is two-year Master of Arts (MA) degree program, and the doctoral program is a three-year research program leading to the award of a Ph.D. degree in Political Science. The department also provides opportunities for students to participate in various co-curricular and extracurricular activities such as debates, seminars, conferences, and workshops, which help to enhance their skills and knowledge in the field of Political Science.

Mission

The Department of Political Science has a mission to provide quality education and research opportunities to its students in the field of Political Science, the department aims to accomplish this mission by:

  • Providing a comprehensive curriculum: The department aims to provide a comprehensive curriculum that covers all major areas of Political Science, including political theory, comparative politics, international relations, public administration, and Indian politics.
  • Developing research skills: The department aims to develop the research skills of its students by providing opportunities to conduct research and engage in independent and critical thinking.
  • Enhancing employability: The department aims to enhance the employability of its students by providing training and opportunities for internships, placements, and other career-oriented programs.
  • Encouraging community engagement: The department aims to encourage community engagement among its students by organizing seminars, workshops, and conferences on various political issues.
  • Fostering interdisciplinary research: The department aims to foster interdisciplinary research by collaborating with other departments and universities to explore the intersection of Political Science with other fields.
  • Promoting inclusivity and diversity: The department aims to promote inclusivity and diversity by providing an inclusive learning environment that welcomes students from diverse backgrounds and perspectives.

Vision

  • To become a center of excellence in the field of Political Science and to provide quality education and research opportunities to its students. The department aims to produce knowledgeable and skilled graduates who can contribute to the development of the country and the field of Political Science.
  • The department also aims to create an environment that encourages research and scholarship in Political Science and to develop a research culture among its faculty members and students. It seeks to foster a sense of intellectual curiosity and critical thinking among its students, which will enable them to analyze complex political issues and propose viable solutions.
  • Furthermore, the department aims to promote interdisciplinary research in Political Science and to establish collaborations with other departments and universities to foster innovation and interdisciplinary research in the field.

Some potential future plans that the department could consider for the upcoming year are:

  • Organizing conferences and seminars: The department could organize conferences and seminars on contemporary political issues, inviting prominent scholars and practitioners from the field to share their insights and perspectives.
  • Upgrading technological infrastructure: The department could upgrade its technological infrastructure by introducing new software, applications, and tools that can enhance teaching, learning, and research activities.

Five Year [short period]:

Some potential future plans that the department could consider for the next five years are:

  • Expanding the scope of research: The department could expand the scope of research by collaborating with national and international universities and research institutions, and exploring new areas of research in the field of Political Science.
  • Launching new programs: The department could consider launching new programs, such as postgraduate diplomas, certificate courses, and executive education programs, to cater to the needs of a diverse student population.
  • Enhancing student employability: The department could enhance students employability by partnering with industry associations, corporations, and government agencies to provide internship and placement opportunities, and career-oriented training programs.
  • Incorporating new teaching methodologies: The department could incorporate new teaching methodologies, such as experiential learning, project-based learning, and online learning, to enhance student engagement and learning outcomes.
